Jim Weaver is an accomplished graphite and colored pencil artist specializing in realism. He has always been passionate about wildlife through his family’s hunting adventures, and animals in general because of raising animals as a child. He delights in attention to fine details and goes to great lengths to ensure accuracy in anatomy, lighting, and species. He believes the discipline to represent an animal accurately honors the subject and delights the viewer.
Jim has been drawing since he could hold a pencil. He’s always enjoyed the unique values of using the black and white medium. He feels it holds a timeless and classic feel - and few artists remain in the black and white drawing niche, but instead move through it to go to other mediums. Jim is also enjoying combining pencil techniques with color. His colored pencil art pieces take on the feel of a painting while using the techniques of graphite drawing he has come to love. Jim’s desire is to learn and grow in his craft and quality with every piece he creates.
Jim is married to his best friend, Jaime, and the pair have three children: Lynnae, Joshua and Grace. In addition to visual art, Jim is also an accomplished musician and recording artist (jimweavermusic.com). He is called as a Worship Pastor and serves the Body of Christ in a full time capacity every week by leading his local congregation in music, and ministering to the needs of people throughout the week. He also fronts the Christian Worship Band “Abide”. Jim is a family man, an outdoorsman/hunter, and enjoys tending to his country acre by raising chickens and goats.
Jim usually creates art late in the evening once his family is in bed and his ministry responsibilities are complete. Jim was born February 15, 1983, in Salem, Oregon.
Jim has prints of his many drawings available for purchase and is also available for special commissions of wildlife or pets. Please contact Jim for a quote.
